Hotel Daniel Vienna
Vienna’s quirky Hotel Daniel is a modern choice for the modern traveller, coining their tagline ‘Smart Luxury’ to express their attitude towards quality with flexibility – minimum fuss. Another of Viennese hotelier Florian Weitzer’s ventures, the Daniel lies between the Schloss Belvedere and the Schweizer Garten, 15 minutes’ walk from the city center and only a few minutes down the road from the Hauptbahnhof for plenty of transport connections.
The basic “Smart” rooms are simple but effective, while those who book the Panorama and Hammock rooms enter the running to receive a free upgrade to move into the Belvedere Suite, which features a stunning view of the eponymous Schloss Belvedere. Beyond the normal rooms, this hotel offers some unconventional options, from rooms containing – you guessed it – a hammock, to the option of staying in a fully converted and insulated 1952 aluminum trailer for those who want the atmosphere of the great outdoors in an urban environment. The trailer features all the basic amenities of a normal hotel room including WiFi, just with a free-standing bathtub instead of a shower – certainly a unique hotel experience. Vespa and bike rentals are available to get on the road for real, while the beehive and Urban Garden (allowing visitors to pick their own vegetables and grapes) give the hotel its green credentials, all contributing to that sense of ‘Smart Luxury’, a form of eco-conscious and flexible hotel for the future.
